A must-see while you are in Monte Carlo.
One Day in Cannes, France
Cannes is a city located in the French Riviera and is a short train ride away from Nice. The city is well-known for being the host of the annual Cannes Film Festival, which previews new films and documentaries from around the world. Cannes also attracts thousands of tourists every year who come for its famous beaches, seafront hotels and exclusive designer boutiques.
Start your visit to Cannes by strolling down the popular La Croisette; a seafront prominade where some of the most famous hotels in the French Riviera are located. This is also an ideal place to sit down at a café and people-watch. At the end of La Croisette, you will find the Palais des Festivals, which is where the Cannes Film Festival takes place every year.
If your plan is to relax at one of the private beaches, be sure to make a reservation in advance as they tend to book fairly quickly, especially during the summer months. If not there are some free public beaches that you can visit as well. However, keep in mind that these beaches can become very crowded if you are in Cannes during the peak summer season.
At night, visit one of the outdoor restaurants located in the old town on the hill of Rue Le Suquet. Le Suquet is a cobbled street located just off the main drag by the old harbor “Le Vieux Port”. Walk up the winding streets up the hill while admiring the great views of the bay.
One Day in Monaco
Monaco is one of my favorite places and a must-see on the French Riviera. You will need at least one day to visit all of the main attractions Monaco has to offer.
Èze, France
Looking for other fantastic places to visit in the French Riviera after you’ve seen Nice? Then I recommend visiting the small town of Eze. Eze is a hill top village located about 20 minutes (by car) away from Nice and the drive offers spectacular views of other neighboring cities and of course the French Riviera. Upon arrival at Eze, you can visit the famous perfumery of Fragonard. Fragonard offers free guided tours where you will learn more about their perfumes, soaps and cosmetics. At the end of the tour, you will have the opportunity to buy their products at factory prices. Continue your tour of the village by having lunch at the famous Château Eza, which is a bit pricey but it offers incredible panoramic views. It is simply a must and worth the climb.
Continue your journey by driving to Monaco or if you feel adventurous, you can even visit Italy.
