Château de Versailles – Palace of Versailles
On your fourth day in Paris, explore the beautiful Palace of Versailles.
The palace of Versailles is a royal palace located in the Île-de-France region of France, just outside of Paris. Your trip to Paris will not be complete until visiting this must-see destination. The easiest way to get to Versailles is by taking the RER, line C. The RER C line serves the western side of the Parisian suburbs. There are several RER train stops throughout the city. Consult your map of Paris to see which one is closest to you. At the ticket counter, make sure to buy a “Paris – Versailles Rive Gauche” ticket (zones 1-4). The Palace of Versailles is about a 5 minute walk from the station. Odds are there will be lots of tourists walking to the same destination.
After spending the day walking through the palace, you can grab lunch at the stunning Versailles gardens. You can have a picnic near the lagoon and enjoy the view while you eat your lunch. There are also local vendors around the park selling ice cream and other snacks. If you’re feeling adventurous, you can rent a pedal-boat or a bike to explore the surroundings.
*Please note the Palace of Versailles is closed on Mondays. For additional information, please visit the official Palace of Versailles website.
